| JobYouDeserve | Nov 6, 2007 6:33pm | I am the producer and host of a Sunday night radio show on Blog Talk Radio (Job You Deserve Radio). It's been pretty tough to attract callers, which is what my show is all about - live career coaching. I would love to hear your thoughts on motivating people to call in! Does it begin and end with more listeners?

Presumably the target "phohe-in potentials" are those who can make lo-cost calls to you, so you need to identify which areas that covers (presumably local to the phone number + Skype and other Voip users) and find some way of getting the info about the show to them. |

In the days of free long distance and Skype, I didn't think twice about the phone number, which has a New York area code. Most of Europe is asleep when I broadcast, but all of the US and Canada is probably wide awake.
Thank you for your response...you've motivated me to do some more brainstorming about getting the word out. :)
I was thinking today about all of the demands on our time. You may WANT to listen to all of your colleagues' teleclasses, shows, etc., but it's just not possible. People must decide which demands will receive their attention, so naturally only the most useful and relevant events are chosen. The only way to defeat the overload is to differentiate yourself, which is something I'm working on. ;) |

I assume from your SU name, it would comprise principally the 20-40 age range, for example - so targeting them in particular geographical locations would make sense, whatever method you use.
I agree about demands on one's time. I no longer work, but try to keep myself informed by reading, listening to the radio and podcasts, as well as watching informative TV programmes yet I can't fit in all I'd like to do.
Also, there is not necessarily a correlation between simple and easy. It brings to mind the Japanese game GO, which is pretty simple and one can learn the rules in a few minutes (if not a minute). However, the strategy of winning is mind-bendingly, headache-inducingly difficult. |

You're right about the age range I serve. I just read that reading helps prevent Alzheimer's, so keep up the good work. ;) |
